“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
In this verse, Paul takes on the delicate subject of giving money to the work of the Lord. His phrase in English, “as he purposes,” is a single Greek term that only appears here in the Bible. It means a premeditated, predetermined plan of action that is voluntarily done from the heart, not impulsively. In other words giving should not be forced it should be from the heart. Giving should be quietly decided or determined within ourselves, between God and us. God loves a happy, cheerful, hilarious giver.
On Sunday, November 13th we shall take some time to consider what it means for us to be stewards today. During the next week everyone will be encouraged to prayerfully consider your gift of time, talent, and treasure to Christ’s work here at CSM for next year. On Sunday, November 20th, we will receive your commitment card for 2017.
