It’s not really church if you aren’t here! See what I mean?
This morning in my inbox, came an article entitled “Why do I Still Go To Church? It’s a Good Question!” And it is a good question, isn’t it?
More and more we find that attending church is the exception and not the rule. The “Nones” and the “Dones” are one of the fastest growing religious or should I say “non-religious” groups in our country and yet, Amy Julia Becker finds herself returning to church each fall. I hope you’ll read it and I hope that you’ll come to church too.
This fall we are focusing on becoming a more fruitful congregation. To spark our thinking and to motivate our hearts as a congregation, we are reading a book “Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation,” and focusing on the five skills that lead to a more fruitful and fulfilling church experience.
The first skill or practice is Radical Hospitality, and this Sunday is “Noble Minds Sunday.” We’ve invited the school that occupies our educational building to join us for worship. But do you know what would make this Sunday really special? And the answer is???? (drumroll) If you are here!
I’m very serious. Your presence makes a difference for the church and for other people, and it makes a difference in your life! I’m not kidding, it’s the truth.
So, I hope you will come and be here at Central St. Matthew, 1333 South Carrollton, this Sunday, 10 AM.
Not sure? Clink the link and read Amy’s article and then decide.
God Bless you!
